The Champions of Faith project involves among other inspirational elements,
a groundbreaking sports special that will showcase the intersection of sports
and faith in Major League Baseball by profiling many of the most accomplished
and devout figures in the game both on and off the field. It will feature inspiring
stories, thrilling game highlights and deeply personal interviews with Catholic
baseball heroes from around the majors on how their careers have been
strengthened and magnified by their faith in God and love for the Church.

This Awards Reception and Benefit will honor two of the featured “champions”
of this film and will be the first in a tradition of Champions of Faith events to
recognize the men and women who devote their lives to a sports career while
maintaining a visible and heroic example of virtue to the young men and women
who are inspired by them.

We hope that young athletes, seminarians of the Archdiocese of Chicago and
young people from all the Catholic schools in the city of Chicago might have an
opportunity to hear from these Champions and have an opportunity to witness
how becoming a sports hero is compatible with a devotion to Christ and life
marked by virtue.
